Getting Started

CookShares, above all is a "project". We are a family, not just a collection of users. The CookShares site is built upon suggestions from our users (and yes, that includes finding bugs!) and we are constantly updating the system to make it the best social media platform out there.

Because CookShares doesn't have a big group of investors to satisfy, we keep things practical and clean. For instance, our Recipes section has become our most popular section simply due to the fact that people can store and share recipes without a bunch of annoying pop ups and opt-in forms.

CookShares is a social sharing site that allows you to create, share, and comment on all sorts of content. There are simple text posts, like you will find on most any social media site, video, photos, and links. Where CookShares really shines is that you can create and share what family and friends most often talk about: Projects, Idea Boards and Recipes that can even be saved as just a link, video, or a few scanned images.

You can save these things just as private for your own viewing, or choose to share with people in your network. Anything shared has Comments below it, so discussions can take on a life of their own!

Here are some tips on how to get started:

Create Your Profile

When you first login, you are directed to your profile. We don't ask for personal info that can be used to overload you with ads like your birthday or phone number. The profile page is very simple, but we do ask that you upload a pic of some sort.

Create Special Content

CookShares doesn't just have a single page of sharing short posts. There are Recipes, Projects and Idea Boards as well. Anytime you create one of these you choose to either share with everyone or to keep it private.

The "Shares" Page

The main page of CookShares is the "Shares" page. Here you can start conversations with people in the form of simple text, a photo, a video, a link, or even share something you found on Amazon.

What's New from Friends?

Anytime a friend of yours posts a new Recipe, Idea Board, or Project, it will appear in the "New" section.
